ACADEMIC REMINDERS ON EXAMINATION
Welcome to AY 2019-2020, 1st Semester! For your information and/or guidance, please take
note of the following:
Test drafts with TOS and or rubrics (please see attached) will be submitted to your
respective department head at least a week before the scheduled examination for
monitoring purposes. Follow the prescribe examination format set by the department.
The Subject Matter Experts submits approved test questionnaire to the mimeographing
office for reproduction and only the SME is allowed to get his exam from the in charge
after the reproduction.
For professional subjects, the department heads will have a separate instruction.
For MARITIME PROGRAM: Proctoring will be applied. Please visit the Office of the Dean
of Maritime. For SBET PROGRAMS: SME’s will proctor his own exam. If due to unavoidable
circumstances, SME cannot proctor his exam, the program head should be informed in
advance to give an ample time to look for a substitute proctors.
No Examinations are to be conducted ahead of the schedule and outside the school. If it is
necessary to reschedule examination, please seek explicit approval from your department
head.
No Permit, No Exam policy is to be implemented; no special examinations will be given
either.
The dates for the PRELIMINARY, MIDTERM, AND FINAL examinations are indicated in the
school calendar.
ACADEMIC REMINDERS ON GRADING SYSTEM
The grade of the student is determined by the composite results of the student’s
performances in recitations, reports, assignments, quizzes, long exams, and other class
works. A teacher must maintain a class record and be able to justify grades given to
students.
Deadline for submission of grades after each exam is included in the school calendar. The
Dean examines the grading sheets for evaluation purposes. He forwards the grades to the
Registrar’s office. Changes or corrections on grades shall be allowed only upon the
approval of the Dean subject to the teacher’s certification that he/she had changed the
grade. The teacher concerned shall initial every erasure in the grading sheet.
MPC uses numerical grading system. Generally, grades are computed as follows:
Assignment, quizzes, recitation, etc. 60%
Periodical examination 40%
The general average is the weighted mean of the prelim, midterm and final
grades.

3. Determine the total number of items per topic by using the formula:
Time Spent / Frequency per topic divided by the total number of
frequency in the grading period times total number of items.
Example:
3 50 = 3.33

7. On the basis of your experience / analysis start allocating the
items with respect to the total number of items per domain and the
total number of items per topic beginning with the higher-order
thinking domains down to remembering. It is suggested that the
order of complexity from creating to remembering is not altered.
