A PROPOSED BRIDGE WIDENING

PROJECT IN MATINA CROSSING,

DAVAO CITY
RG Dayanan|Filbert Go
INTRODUCTION

It is a daily ordeal for residents

of southern part of Davao city
to negotiate the traffic on
Matina Crossing Bridge these
days. Choked with heavy and
continuous traffic beyond its
capacity, the narrow bridge has
become a major bottleneck,
often witnessing a bumper-to-
bumper traffic for the most
part of the day.
INTRODUCTION

Traffic began to worsen when Davao City

neglected to improve its roadways while
its population kept on increasing
exponentially. One can only imagine the
total hours of delay, fuel wasted, and lost
value of time (as in productivity lost while
sitting and fuming in traffic).
The Problem

Objective

• To assess the volume of traffic

on the Matina Crossing Bridge
Significance of the Study
• The significance of our study is to help ease the flow of traffic along
Matina. After the bridge widening, the bridge would be able to
accommodate more vehicles and lessen the chances of traffic to pile
up due to a bottleneck effect.

Methodology
The Proposed Solution
Our proposed solution to this
massive waste of resources is not
more or better mass
transportation, but better work-
arounds – expansion of the bridge.
Redesigning and rebuilding roads
around the bottleneck can ease
traffic too.
