-   Southeast Asia is located in the tropics


except the northernmost region of Burma
(Myanmar)
- Its climate is mainly tropical–hot and
humid all year round with plentiful rainfall.
The majority of Southeast Asia has a wet
and dry season caused by seasonal shift in
winds or monsoon. 
-Northern Vietnam and the Myanmar
Himalayas are the only regions in Southeast
Asia that feature a subtropical climate,
which has a cold winter with snow.

SOUTHEAST ASIA’s NATURAL RESOURCES
- Southeast Asia is a traditional producer and exporter of raw
materials and of natural resources. Favored by climatic and
soil conditions, the region is rich in agricultural resources
including forests. In addition, deposits of various economic
minerals are also to be found and its advantage to the bodies
of water that surrounds the region

- Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Malaysia have the world’s largest tin deposits. Tin
is a type of light metal.
-Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam have a lot of precious gems like
sapphires and rubies, while the Philippines sells a lot of pearls, which are created
by a kind of oyster in the ocean. 
-The seas provide a very important resource in fish, shellfish, and sea
plants. 
- The climate of the region helps to have a good vegetation for different plants
such a vegetable, fruits and different root crops
-Tropical forests have trees like mahogany and rubber, which are used for furniture
and manufactured goods.

Countries in Southeast Asia practice many different religions.

Islam is the most practiced faith, numbering approximately 240 million


adherents, or about 40% of the entire population, concentrated
in Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Southern Thailand and in the Southern
Philippines. Indonesia is the most populous Muslim-majority country
around the world.

Buddhism is predominant in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia,
Burma and Singapore. Ancestor worship and Confucianism 
are also widely practiced in Vietnam and Singapore.

Christianity is predominant in the Philippines, eastern Indonesia, East


Malaysia and East Timor. The Philippines has the largest Roman
Catholic population in Asia. East Timor is also predominantly Roman
Catholic due to a history of Portuguese rule.

natural resources such as tin, petroleum, rubber, tea, spices, valuable woods an

natural resources.

about 161-km along the South China Sea
• Despite its small size, Brunei Darussalam is the fifth-
wealthiest country in the world, owing to the vast oil
wealth that has fuelled its economy for more than 85
years.
• Oil and gas is the 90 percent of Brunei’s exports

 Champion-which is in 30 meters of water, about 70 kilometers
northeast of Seria. It holds 40 percent of the country’s known
reserves and produces around 100,000 barrels a day.

• Indonesia is an exotic Southeast Asian nation which is best
known for thousands of beautiful volcanic islands
• Its fertile volcanic earth and plentiful rain yield a vast variety of
produce, such as pungent durian, rice, coffee and cocoa.
Beneath the earth are mineral resources and gemstone
deposits, which include chalcedony, chrysocolla, diamond,
garnet, idocrase, jasper, nephrite, obsidian, opal, prehnite,
sapphire and quartz. 
•  In 2015, Indonesia was reported to have caught "gem fever",
with gemstone jewelry being widely worn.
• The center for gemstone processing and trade is in the capital,
Jakarta.
• Indonesian gemstones are also sold to tourists as souvenirs, in
Bali and Java, as well as being exported, where they are traded
all over the world

• Thailand was the top rice exporter in the world during the first
four months of this year (2018).
• Shipping out 3.31 million tonnes of the grain to overtake rivals
such as India, Vietnam and Pakistan.
• According to the Department of International Trade Promotion
(DITP) at the Ministry of Commerce.Thai rice exports peaked in
2017 at 11.6 million tonnes while the export target for 2018 is 10
million tonnes.
-White rice made up the bulk of Thai rice exports (48.7 percent)
- Sticky rice (27.7 per cent)
- Thai Jasmine rice (16.2 per cent).
• According to DITP director general Adul Chotinisakorn. “The
export trend for the second quarter of 2018 is also positive due
to higher demand from many rice-importing countries, including
China, the Philippines and Indonesia.”

• Respect between employees is usually important and the way people


address, talk and interact with each other is very dependent on a person's
status. A person's status is very important in Asian culture and is both
determined by title, social standing and wealth.
 
• Locals usually take things to heart and are warmer in their dealing with each
other. When dealing with problems or mistakes never address the employee
involved in front of colleagues, it is best to address this one on one.

• In some large cities it is common that many employees are from villages far
away from the city they work in. They usually go home to their villages once
or twice a year for major holidays
