3D PRINTING RESEARCH REPORT

PRESENTED BY RICKY JOHNSON AND ENOCH SEAMAN
WHAT IS 3D PRINTING?
SOFTWARE USED IN 3D PRINTING

Modeling software Slicing software

1. AutoCAD 1. Cura
2. Solid works 2. Craftware
3. Tinker CAD 3. Slic3r
MATERIALS AND USES
• Materials
1. PLA – cheap, decent strength, easy to print and is the
most common printing material
2. ABS – cheap, good strength but hard to print
3. TPU – flexible material, resistant to abrasion, grease
and oil
4. PVA – dissolvable material commonly used for support
5. Kevlar – tough, lightweight, can bend further than any
other fiber, high impact and fatigue resistant but very
expensive
3D PRINTING TIME-LAPSE
3D PRINTING VS MACHINING

3D Printing Machining
•Additive  •Subtractive
•Slower •Faster
•Extruders •Cutters
•less human •Operator needed
control •Larger size
•Smaller size •More expensive
•Cheaper •More waste
•Less waste
