What is the function of ATX Power Supply
Unit?
POWER SUPPLY UNIT is also called as
Power Supply or PSU. This is the device
that supplies power to your personal
computer. The Power Supply Unit pulls the
required amount of electricity and converts
the AC current to DC current and it also
regulates the voltage to eliminate spikes
and surges common in most electrical
systems.
What are the common Form Factor of Power
Supply Unit?
What are the common form
factors of Power Supply Unit?
FORM FACTOR
Form Factor refers to the specification of physical
dimensions, layouts, and other design that helps guarantee
the hardware works with products that support that form
factor. Form factors help the technician prevent
incompatibilities between multiple hardware manufacturers
during the installation.

EPS12V (Entry-level Power Supply)
The main difference today between ATX
and EPS with respect to connectors is
the use of an eight-pin dual +12 V
connector in EPS12V instead of a four-
pin +12 V connector in ATX12V. The
eight-pin dual +12 V connector is
essentially the equivalent of two four-pin
connectors mated together and is used
by entry-level servers to power multiple
processors. Because of the way the
connectors are designed, an eight-pin
+12 V connector can plug into a four-pin
+12 V connector on a motherboard, with
the unused pins simply hanging unused,
offset to one side or the other.
