Introduction
 Activated carbon, also called
activated charcoal, is a form of
carbon processed to have small,
low volume pores that increase
the surface area available for
adsorption.
 one gram of activated carbon has the surface

area of 3,000m2.
 Gas used here is hot combustion gas of
wood, peanut shells

Applications
 Can be used in air purification, gold
purification, metal extraction, water
purification, medicine, sewage treatment,
agriculture, fuel storage etc
