What is a Wave ?

A wave can be
described as
a disturbance that
travels through
a medium from one
location to another
location.
What is a
Medium?
A medium is a substance or material that
carries the wave.
What are the 2 types of waves ?

The 2 types of Waves are

Mechanical Waves And
Electromagnetic Waves
There are two types of mechanical waves:
Longitudinal waves:
the movement of the particle are parallel
to the motion of the energy
Examples: Sound Waves, Pressure Waves

Transverse waves:
When the movement of the particles is at
right angles or perpendicular to the motion
of the energy
Example: Light Wave
Electromagnetic Waves:
waves that are created as a result of vibrations
between an electric field and a magnetic field.
Examples: radio Waves, microwaves, infrared waves,
X-rays, gamma rays, etc.
