Understanding of presedential
government system

• Presidential system (presidential), or also known as

congressional system, is a system of government
of a republic in which executive power is elected
through elections and separated from legislative
power.
The Characteristics of
presidential government are :
• 1. Headed by a president as head of government
as well as head of state
• 2. The executive power of the president is
appointed based on popular democracy and is
elected directly by them or through a people’s
representative body.
Strengths of the presidential
Government System :

- The executive body is more stable because it does not depend on

parllement.
- The term of office of the executive body is clearer over a certain
period of time . For example, the term of office of the President of
the United States is four years, the president of the Pilipines is six
years annd the President of Indonesia is five years.
Shortscomings of the Presidential
Goverments System :
- Executive power outside the direct oversight of
the legislature so as to create absolute power.
- The accountability system is unclear.
- Decision making takes a long time.
