INTRODUCTION
DEFINITION:
Eco resort is the destination where the people go for recreation, especially one with facilities such as
entertainment, resting and relaxing with pleasant and experience the local culture , landscape and its designed to have
minimal impaction the natural environment. it would be a lodging facility that takes steps to reduce its carbon footprint while
giving back to its local community.
SIGNIFICANCE OF TOPIC :
Because of the rapid growth of population in the urban areas, people seek ways to find breaks and refreshments from their day to
day life. With this proposed thesis project, a new style of relaxation can be invented. This thesis project will focus on the tourism
and economic growth but it will improve how resorts can greatly contribute to
the environment .
The project will provide a eco friendly environment , awareness of the potential ecological and energy conservative issues that
people can inhabitants of the environment. Thought this people could realise that there
Is still more ways to get closer in nature while still relaxing and enjoying the resort.
SELECTION OF TOPIC:
Every people take interest in retreating away from the busy schedule of everyday life to the most interacting
Place to stay and fine a break shelter. The raw and natural environment amuses the tourists of all ages hailing from different
parts of the world.
Now a days people wants to experience the real thing. What people expect is a hotel or resort which reflects and respects the
environment in which it is situated and an experience that enhances their lives in a meaningful and memorable way.The time is
opportune for architects to break away from the shackles of constrains architecture and give to their creativity in designing for
leisure activities.
WHY ECO RESORT
I have a lot interest in designing a habitable space near rural region and landscaping.
I want to study the spaces and designing the aspects of hotels in the rural area, its architectural
elements and construction methods. I find eco resort interesting and unique than all other type of
resorts that tends to pull their focus on luxury and comfort but not an the cultural aspect of the place
and minimizing the impact of tourism on nature and culture which makes the whole idea of visiting a
holiday destination incomplete.
I want to design a resort which provides the comfort as well as cultural experience of the destination
which will help the tourists and locals to gain knowledge and design it in a traditional architecture style.

WHAT IS ECO RESORT

An eco-resort offers a ‘tropical experience’ to visitors. Such a report makes only a minimal Impact on the
environment with out compromising guest’ comfort and safety. It can also be an economically viable alternative to
typical air-conditioned structures. The eco-resort has to draw on blend with the local natural and cultural
environments by employing principles of environmentally sustainable design (ESD). It must minimise use of energy
through passive solar design and ,where additional energy inputs are required, it should utilise the renewable
resources of sun water and wind. . It also make minimal impact on the environment by limiting Waste, emissions,
pollution and other undesirable effects of its operation .
AIM:
The main aim of the project is to design an eco resort which will attract people away from their busy schedules and
heavy workloads to a place where they can relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature in its boundary.
Eco resort responds to the climatic and energy consumption issues raised by the present day architecture through
eco-sensitive design strategies.
The project explores the role of architecture in educating according to the principles of eco-tourism in rural India.
The project aims to promote conservation and eco-tourism in the region.

OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of ECO RESORT design study is to reduce, or completely avoid, depletion of critical resources
like energy, water, and raw materials; prevent environmental degradation caused by facilities and infrastructure
throughout their life cycle; and create built environments that are liveable, comfortable, safe, and productive.
Buildings use resources (energy, water, raw materials, and etc.),generate waste (occupant, construction and
demolition), and emit potentially harmful atmospheric emissions so the main objective is to create building design
which is accessible, secure, healthy, and productive while minimizing any negative impacts on society, it should result
in net-positive benefits to all the areas.

INCREASE CONTACT WITH NATURE.

• Have peace and calmness for relaxation. • Develop it to be a social meeting place.
• Provide recreational facilities. • Develop an atmosphere different from urban
• To create an attractive image. hectic life.
NECESSITY
Green building (also known as green construction or sustainable building) refers to both a structure and the
application of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's
life-cycle: from planning to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition.
•This requires close cooperation of the contractor, the architects, the engineers, and the client at all project
stages.
•The Green Building practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy,
utility, durability, and comfort.

PURPOSE
The main purpose of this project is to revitalize an industry which has been largely ignoring the social and
cultural values of the surrounding region by limiting the interaction between the tourists and the locals. I aim to
successfully incorporate an eco-resort along with a working plantation, thereby introducing the guests to the
traditional methods and ways of living and farming in this region.
In the past, hotel groups like the Radisson have acquired large blocks of land to create their five star resorts.
These resorts are completely self-contained with minimal interaction with the local environment. This type of
development detracts from providing its guests the true essence of rural India.
I would like to design a resort which gives the guests a real sense of what rural Kerala is really like. The guests will
have a real interaction with the day to day running of a working plantation and with the locals employed on the
farm. They will have the ability to interact and even take part in the operations at the plantation. This may include
activities like helping with the harvesting of cocoa or vanilla plants. Their experience of this area will be different to
anything the average tourist to India might encounter.

JUSTIFICATION

1. In the respect of topic

• Services
• Landscaping
• Built and unbuilt environment (balance) etc.
• Tourism
• Development
• Requirement of resorts
• Provide recreational, parties etc. spot for local public in a
natural environment etc.
METHODOLOGY
• Collect information about eco resorts in specific.
• Analysis of site.
• To collect info on functional requirements of resorts.
• Case study analysis.
• Design criteria considering derivatives from the standards and from the case study analysis.
• Design strategy to meet the demand of design criteria.
• With the help of design strategy arriving at a design concept which finally leads to the
evolution of design.
• Passive solar design options
What Should You Expect Once You Get to an Eco-resort?
There are quite a few of them, but you don’t have to fly half way around the world to enjoy eco-resorts. There are
numerous lodging facilities in the United States that are eco-friendly. Though many of them are a lighter shade of
green, some go to extreme measures to be sustainable.
