citrus fruits
include:

•WHY DID l CHOSE CITRUS FRUITS?
•Vitamin C increases the production of
white blood cells,a key to fight infections.
•Also it is widely consume by peoples and
is one of the best method to increase
immunity.citrus trees are widely
cultivated all over the world which makes
is much available and thus affordable by
all.moreover
•Vitamin C boosts immunity and defends the body
from infections. It also helps in fighting colds and
wheezing. Citrus fruits have a decent amount of
dietary fiber that keeps digestive health and
regular bowel movements, controls hunger and
fires our metabolism.
•As the Covid-19 strain of coronavirus continues to
spread globally, people are taking a number of
different measures to protect themselves. While
eating certain immunity boosting foods may help to
boost your immune system, thus making it easier to
fight off the virus.
•MECHANISM:VITAMIN C & IMMUNE
FUNCTION.
Vitamin C is an essential micronutrient for humans, with pleiotropic
functions related to its ability to donate electrons.Vitamin C contributes
to immune defense by supporting various cellular functions of both the
innate and adaptive immune system. Vitamin C supports epithelial
barrier function against pathogens and promotes the oxidant scavenging
activity of the skin, thereby potentially protecting against environmental
oxidative stress. Vitamin C accumulates in phagocytic cells, such as
neutrophils, and can enhance chemotaxis, phagocytosis, generation of
reactive oxygen species, and ultimately microbial killing. It is also
needed for apoptosis and clearance of the spent neutrophils from sites of
infection by macrophages, thereby decreasing necrosis/NETosis and
potential tissue damage.
•ROLE OF VITAMIN C IN PHAGOCYTE
FUNCTION:
Vitamin C has been shown to: (a) enhance
neutrophil migration in response to
chemoattractants (chemotaxis), (b) enhance
engulfment (phagocytosis) of microbes, and
(c) stimulate reactive oxygen species (ROS)
generation and killing of microbes. (d)
Vitamin C supports caspase-dependent
apoptosis, enhancing uptake and clearance by
macrophages, and inhibits necrosis, including
NETosis, thus supporting resolution of the
inflammatory response and attenuating
tissue.
•HOW DOES VITAMIN C WORK INSIDE
THE BODY?
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic
acid, is a water-soluble nutrient
found in some foods. In the body, it
acts as an antioxidant, helping to
protect cells from the damage
caused by free radicals. ... The body
also needs vitamin C to make
collagen, a protein required to help
wounds heal.
