DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A

TEACHER

TEACHER IS DEFINED AS:
 A person who teaches .

 Imparts knowledge or skill .

 Removes the darkness .

 Takes the disciples from darkness to light or from


ignorance to knowledge .
1. PUNCTUALITY

 Teacher should make a point of entering and leaving


the class room on time.

 If a teacher required extra time to complete his/her


lesson for some reason then permission from any
other teacher affected by this must be sought in
advance .
2. DISCIPLINE

 A class is a group of children who are different from one


and another so teacher should be able to control the
class because an uncontrolled class learns very little but
it also disturbs other classes.

 So, maintaining discipline is teachers responsibility inside


and outside the class room .
 Discipline is just not that the students are sitting quietly
in class but is reflected in their manners, habits and
working style.

 A class teacher should make some rules for class


and must remain in contact with other subject
teacher to discuss the behaviour of the student.

 Teacher have to perform weekly duties in break.


3. DAILY ATTENDANCE

 The first activity of the day for a class teacher is the


daily roll call of students.

 It is the class teachers responsibility to ensure the


accurate and methodical maintenance of the
register .
4. TAKING AND HANDING OVER OF
SCHOOL PROPERTY

 At the beginning of the new session, every teacher


is handed over a few things which are under the
teachers responsibility and the teacher stands
accountable for them.

 All teachers are required to hand in these all things


to school office before proceeding on leave or
vacation.
5. TEACHERS RESOURCE MATERIAL

 All teachers are supplied with some basic resource


material, to teach their students effectively.

 Books and teachers guides should covered properly


and should not be left lying around.
6. TEACHERS PLANNER

 The teachers will be given a planner at the


beginning of the session , they have to update all
the record of their classes in the planner.

 Every week the teachers have to submit their


planner to the vice principal.
7. NOTE BOOK CHECKING

 Pupils note book collected by a teacher for checking


are also the responsibility of that teacher .

 The notebooks should not be left lying around in


the staffroom after checking.

 The teacher must check the work within three days.


8. PARENTS/TEACHER RELATIONSHIP
 Parents teacher meeting are the best time for
teachers to discuss the performance of students
with their parents.
 Strongly worded criticism should be avoided at all
cost.
 If a teacher notices any behavioral problems in a
pupil he/she should discuss them with principal first
then parents .
 2nd thing A teacher is not permitted for to accept
any gift from parents.
