Kanchpur Bridge .... constructed in 1977

Meghna Bridge .... constructed in 1991

1. Background of the Project

In the near future,


 N1 (Dhaka-Chittagong) has widened to 4 lanes
 2-lane Meghna and Gumti Bridges become “Bottleneck”
 4-lane Kanchpur Bridge becomes saturated

2. Project History
1977 Existing Kanchpur Bridge was constructed (WB Fund)
1991 Existing Meghna Bdiege was constructed (JICA Grant Aid)
1995 Existing Gumti Bridge was constructed (JICA Grant Aid)
2012- Feasibility Study – JICA Preparatory Survey for Dhaka – Chittagong National
2013 Highway No.1 Bridge Consruction and Rehabilitation Project

2013 10 March: JICA Loan Agreement BD-P72 (1st Phase: 28,945 Million Yen)
2013 18 November: Contract for No.PS-01: Consultancy Services for Detailed Survey,
investigation, Design and Construction Supervision

2014 Detailed Design


2015 25 November: Contract for Packegae PW-01: The Construction of Kanchpur,
Meghna and Gumthi 2nd Bridges and Existing Bridges Rehabilitation

2016 04 January: Commencement of Construction


2017 29 June: JICA Loan Agreement BD-P94 (2nd Phase: 52,370 Million Yen)
