 On the basis of user mode there are two type of Operating System

1. Single User Operating System

2. Multiuser Operating System


Single User Operating System
An operating system in which only one user can work at a
time is called single user operating system.

Example : DOS and window -95 and window 2000


Multi User Operating System
 A multi user operating system allows more than one user to
work at the same time.

 Example : Linux , Unix , etc.


Difference

Single User OS Multi User OS

 A single user can access  More than one user can


the computer at a time. access the system at the
same time.
 It is easy to use.
 It is little bit complicated to
use.

 Multiuser system are used
mostly use in home and
office. in networking.
