IN DIVERSITY
L 41: HOW DOES BIODIVERSITY CONTRIBUTE TO THE SURVIVAL OF SPECIES?
L 42: HOW DOES BIODIVERSITY CONTRIBUTE TO THE STABILITY OF
ECOSYSTEMS?
L 43: HOW DO HUMAN ACTIVITIES AFFECT THE STABILITY OF ECOSYSTEMS?
L 41: HOW DOES BIODIVERSITY CONTRIBUTE
TO THE SURVIVAL OF SPECIES
41.1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: FROM THE ORGANISM TO THE
BIOSPHERE

BIODIVERSITY- the variety of the life, may be expressed at different levels

of biological organization, namely, genetic, species, and ecosystem
biodiversity.
41.1.1 ORGANISM
- The lowest level of biological organization that we study in ecology.
- Exhibits a characteristic pattern of growth, storage and production.
L 41: HOW DOES BIODIVERSITY CONTRIBUTE
TO THE SURVIVAL OF SPECIES
41.1.2 POPULATION
- A group of interbreeding individuals living in a particular place and at a
given time.
What drives organism to form population?
- the need to survive and reproduce successfully.

41.1.3 BIOTIC COMMUNITY
- A group of interbreeding individuals living in a particular place and at a
given time.
What drives organism to form population?
- the need to survive and reproduce successfully.
