respondents and their chosen strand?
HYPOTHESES OF THE STUDY

1. The Grade 10 students’ level of anxiety vary according to age, sex, and section.

2. There is no significant difference in the level of anxiety of the respondents when


grouped according to their profile.

3. There is no significant relationship between the level of anxiety of the


respondents and their chosen strand.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
• DESIGN
Descriptive- correlation method of research was utilized.
• RESPONDENTS
A total of 94 Grade 10 students at Pinaripad National High School on S.Y. 2017-2018 were the
respondents of the study which were taken using Cluster Random Sampling.
• INSTRUMENT
Researcher-made questionnaire: Anxiety Test was utilized as the primary source of the data
gathering instrument.
 Pilot testing was conducted prior to the research proper and also to ensure that the result will be
reliable for the study.
STATISTICAL TREATMENT

1. Frequency and Tally Percent


2. Arithmetic mean
3. One way Analysis of Variance
4. Independent Sample T-test
5. Pearson Product Moment Correlation
SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS
Based from the data collected, the following findings were revealed:
1. Majority of the respondents are in range fourteen to sixteen years old which makes up
89.4% of the total respondents. The remaining 8.5% are in range seventeen to nineteen
years old and 2.1% are 20 years old and above.
2. Female respondents outnumbered the male students with 57.45% against the 42.55% of
male respondents.
3. Majority of the respondents’ chosen strand is NON-STEM with a frequency of 81 or a
total of 86.17% while STEM strand has a frequency of 13 or a total of 13.83%.
4. 100% of Grade 10 respondents will continue as senior high school students after
graduating as a junior high school students.
5. Most of the respondents feel excited to take Senior High with frequency of 54 or a total of 57.45%
while the 33 or 35.11% feel nervous.
6. Majority of the respondents chose the statement “it’s my choice” as the reason why they choose
STEM as their strand for the Senior High with a mean of 3.615, followed by the statement “I want to
prove something” with a mean of 3.538.
7. The student’s anxiety of getting low grades has the highest mean of 2.271.
8. When grouped according to sex, male has 2.030 mean while female has 1.952.
9. According to age, 14-16 years old has a mean of 1.997 and interpret as moderate while 17 years old
and above has 1.866 mean and indicates as moderate.
10. When grouped according to section, Rizal has 2.207 mean; Jacinto with 2.012; Bonifacio with
1.968; and Aguinaldo has 1.827 mean.
11. Male and female have no difference when it comes to anxiety towards STEM. The male with a
mean of 2.030; SD=0.694 and female with a mean of 1.952; SD=0.651; P=0.447; and critical value of
2.004.
12. The result reveals that there is no significant difference of age with regards to anxiety of students
towards Stem with P=0.468 and critical value of 2.262.
13. There is no significant difference of section with regards to the anxiety of students towards
STEM. It has P=0.176 and F crit=2.723.
14. There is no significant relationship between the chosen strand and the anxiety of respondents
towards STEM strand with the variables, r= -0.144, n= 94. It indicates that -0.144 has negligible
correlation.
CONCLUSIONS

1. Female students outnumbered males.


2. Most of the students chose NON-STEM strands.
3. Students have high anxiety in getting low grades.
4. Male has higher anxiety than female towards STEM
strand.
5. Respondents in range of fourteen to sixteen years old has a higher anxiety than seventeen to
nineteen years old towards STEM.
6. Grade 10 Rizal which is the first section has the highest anxiety towards STEM than the other
sections.
7. There is no significant difference in the level of anxiety of the respondents when grouped
according to age, sex, and section.
8. There is no significant relationship in the level of anxiety of Grade 10 students towards STEM.
RECOMMENDATIONS

Based from the findings and conclusions of the study, the following are recommended:
1. Teachers should implement more strand for the students to increase the number of students and
not to go and transfer to another school.
2. Parents should assist all the studies of their children to lessen their anxiety in getting low grades
and to improve their learning style.
3. Teachers should encourage the students to join any activities in school especially in science
subject and math.
4. The teachers and school administrators should conduct a program for the students and invite
speakers who has the strategies and technique that can improve or motivate the students not to get
scared in all the strand especially STEM.
5. Students, especially the completers should express their selves in to different competition to
improve their confidents and learnings.
