• John the Baptist was the Son of
Zechariah and Elizabeth, who
prepared the way for the coming
of the Messiah and was known to
be the last and greatest among
the prophets.
• He preached the message of
repentance.
THE LAST AND GREATEST

• His ministry was basically to
point out the direction of
Jesus’ coming.
• After being able to point and
teach who Jesus was, John
knew that the prophecies
about Jesus’ coming in the
OT has been fulfilled.

• He is the only one
who pointed out
Jesus with humility
and clarity. As the
Gospel of
JOHN 1: 29-34
FOREORDINATION
• Is a special work that God has given to the special
people.
• The Heavenly Father foreordinate us in pre-mortal
life when we chose us to do a special task for Him in
earth.
• We still have our freedom but the opportunity is ours
if we chose it.

• John’s task was to
prepare the way
for Jesus’ ministry
by calling people
to an awareness of
their son and
repentance.

• His ministry was
to prepare the way
of the Lord,
proclaim the
baptism of
repentance for the
forgiveness of sins.

• Immersion on water
symbolizes or expresses
change of heart, and
openness of mind and
spirit to what was to come.
• It is a sign of spiritual
purification.
• Also, it is an outward
expression of repentance.
BAPTISM
“To be identified with” – to identify
yourself yourself as the child of God.
“To consecrate” – expected to be/
practice the holiness.
WHY JESUS BAPTISM?
- Identify with sins
- Response of obedience
- Fullfilment of the prophecy
PREPARED THE WAY FOR
JESUS CHRIST
- Follow the way to authentic conversion
and repentance for the forgiveness of
sins.
- CONVERSION is a lifestyle and
expression in preparing the way.
- It is also the process of cleansing
oneself, purifying one’s intention and
living accordance with the word of God.
We are called to:
1. Bear witness to Jesus and be living proofs
of the mercy, forgiveness and unconditional
love of Jesus.
2. We have the responsibility to bring people
to Jesus.
3. Stand for truth and nothing but the truth.
4. Become members of Christ’s body as John
the Baptist baptized the people.
