 Propeties = Characteristics
 Why do we have to know it? Because
the use of every material depends on the
properties
Kinds of properties

 2. Soft : easy to scratch
 3. Tough : difficult to scratch
 4. Combustible : easy to burn
 5. Non-combustible : difficult to burn
 6. Corrodible : easy to corrode
 7. Non-corrodible : difficult to corrode
 8. Inflammable : easy to catch fire
 9.Non-inflammable: difficult to catch fire
Kinds of Properties
 10.Stiff/rigid : difficult to bend
 11. Soluble : easy to dissolve
 12. Insoluble : difficult to dissolve
 13. Transparent : can see through and the light can pass through
 14. Opaque: can’t see through and the light can’t pass through
 15. Smooth: small frictions
 16. Rough: many frictions

 18. Ductile: easy to stretch and it can get a new shape
 19. Translucent: can’t see through but the light can pass through
