50,587 (43%)
• Associated family members grew
from 36,399 to 53,444 (77%)
• As many as 18,000+ troops
returned from deployments this fall.

CONSTRUCTION SPENDING

• 500 to 700 units of family housing
• new facilities at Madigan Hospital
• a new Town Center development
mixed-use project containing
residential and commercial
development.

Approximately $2.5 Billion in


construction spending is projected
in the next 5 years.

Ownership Affordability
1. Service member demand is for housing
between $150,000 and $350,000.
2. Highest demand for units at $350,000
3. The supply in the region at this price
point (788) far exceeds the projected
military demand (111).

Rental Affordability
1. Deficit of available apartments priced above $1,200 (83 units).
2. Units are scarce due to competition among the non-military population.

being created to form a group to help
implement the plan recommendations.

That structure is the:

Communities Partnership (SSMCP)

Coordinate regionally to manage military-related growth


in communities surrounding JBLM so that all civilian residents,
military personnel and their families have access to a high
quality of life.
