Target/Goal

Goal:
The purpose toward which an endeavor is
directed; an end; an objective.

Goal Setting:
To set or adjust for proper functioning.

WHY SHOULD YOU SET GOALS?

• Establish your ultimate destination


• Identify the roads you can take to get there
• Know when you have arrived at your goal

Why People Do Not Set Goals

Because they ……
• Do not understand the importance of goals.
• Do not know how to set goals.
• Fear of rejection.
• Fear of failure.

The Criteria for Setting Goals

SMARTER GOALS
• Specific – Is the goal clear?
• Measurable – Can you objectively prove that you have met
the goal?
• Adjustable – If you achieve the goal sooner than anticipated,
can you increase the intensity or conversely, does it need to
be scaled down?
• Realistic – Do you really believe that you can do it?
• Time-based – Have you set a realistic date to meet the goal?
• Exciting – Will it be fun?
• Rewarding – Can you see the reward for achieving this goal?

Directions:
1. For each area of your life, circle the number that indicates how satisfied you are
in that area -- on a
scale of 1 to 10, 10 being completely satisfied, and 1 being completely unsatisfied.
2. Alternatively, you can score based on how invested (time, energy, resources)
you are in each area
3. Connect the dots -- connect the numbers you have circled to form a new
