Garden of Eden
• And the LORD God commanded the
man…
• "You are free to eat from any tree in the
garden; but you must not eat from the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
for when you eat of it you will surely
die."
How sin entered the world
• When the woman saw that the
fruit of the tree was good for
food and pleasing to the eye,
and also desirable for gaining
wisdom
Punishment
To the woman he said:
•"I will greatly increase your
pains in childbearing; with
pain you will give birth to
children. Your desire will be
for your husband, and he will
rule over you."
To Adam he said:
"Because you listened to your wife
and ate from the tree about which
I commanded you, `You must not
eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground
because of you; through painful
toil you will eat of it all the days of
your life.
• It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and
you will eat the plants of the field. By the
sweat of your brow you will eat your food
until you return to the ground, since from it
you were taken; for dust you are and to dust
you will return."
The results of sin
1. We are all born in a sinful condition (original or
inherited sin)
2. We commit sins against God every day (Actual sin)
3. We deserve God’s punishment and eternal death
4. We suffer pain and sadness because of sin
5. All of nature lost its perfection with the fall into sin

thee and the woman, and
between thy seed and her seed; it
shall bruise thy head, and thou
shalt bruise his heel.

unconditional obedience even if God's

and fidelity of Abraham was rewarded by God.
God promised that He will give him land
where food grows in abundance and that he
will be the father of a multitude of nations.
The New Covenant of Love
 Abraham and his wife Sarah,
lived in a place called Ur.
God made a promise with Abraham. He said
"Trust me, leave everything that is familiar
behind, and go to a land which I will show you.
Do this and I will give you this land and make
you a great nation. And you shall become a
blessing to all the families of the earth."
So Abraham and Sarah,
together with Lot
(Abram’s nephew)
travelled many months,
till they came to the
land of Canaan
which God had promised
them. When Abraham
first saw the new land,
he built an altar to
glorify God.
They settled and
became the Jewish
nation of Israel.
