Women entrepreneurship

• Women entrepreneurs refers to a women or a group of women who


are liable to establish a new business venture and operate it
effectively.
• Women entrepreneurs are those who are develop their innovative
business idea or choose the best opportunity, organise resources,
combine the factors of production ,take risks and ensure smooth
functioning of the enterprise in a most effective way so as to earn
high profit.

Entrepreneurship
• Self Help Group: A Charitable association where each
member has to contribute some amount of money to
collect seed money. The amount od seed money is used to
grant a loan to the members in need is repaid.
• FIWE (Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs)
aims to foster the economic empowerment of women
,particularly those belonging to the small and medium
enterprises segment, by helping them become successful
entrepreneurs and integrating them into the mainstream
industry.
• FLO (FICCI Ladies Organisation)
it is the women’s wing of the federate of Indian chambers of
commerce and Industry (FICCI). FLO aims to promote the
socioeconomic advancement of women with the objective of
women’s empowerment.

• Women’s India Trust (WLO)


it’s mission is to help women from less privileged backgrounds help
themselves by providing unskilled and disadvantaged women a
platform for advancement and empowerment. It offers training and
employment opportunities to any needy women irrespective of
age, caste, or religion.
• AWAKE(Association of women entrepreneurs of karnataka
it’s vision is to reach out to as many women as possible and create
entrepreneurs who will be role models for emulation worldwide.
Member of this association guide women who want to start or
improve their business by counseling, training, sharing their
experiences and expertise and by providing them with peer group
support.
• SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association)
It is a trade union based in Ahmedabad, India that promotes the
rights of low-income, independently employed female workers. It
facilitate women to do trade of their choice in and organised manner.

• Training Programs
 Under mahila vikas nidhi, a cumulative help of Rs. 80.4
million was sanctioned, during the period 1990-2001 .
Various training- cum production centers set up by NGOs
mostly relate to activities like sericulture, spinning,
weaving, block printing, handloom products, h

andicrafts etc.
 DICs arrange various lectures and seminars etc. in girls colleges and
technical institutes to encourage them to set up their own enterprises.
 It was set up in 1993 to provide micro- credit to poor
women who had no access to financial institution at
reasonable rates of interest with very low transaction costs
and simple procedures. It proved quite useful for lower
income g
roup women.
The government of India has started various
training programs schemes exclusively for self-
employment of women. The training programs
include Support for Training and Employment
Programs of women (STEP) and Development of
Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA).

• It refers to a cumulative data which shows the parameters for
measuring the ease of doing business in a nation.
• It includes several indicators such as permit to carry out construction,
registration, getting the credit, paying tax, protecting Minority
Investors, Enforcing Contracts, labour Market Regulation etc.
