MEANING
• An exit interview is a powerful tool that allows that allows
organisations to gain an understanding as to why people leave.

• Exit interviews capture ideas for improvement while promoting


positive interaction with departing employees. Analysis of
results and related statistical reports created from exit
interviews provide opportunities for the organisation to
develop actions that can encourage reduction in turnover
rates, improve employee morale and encourage a possible
future return.

2. Over the last few years, the use of third party vendors to conduct exit
interviews has increased sharply.

3. To get the most out of your exit interviews choose interviews who are:
a) Perceived by the departing employee as someone with integrity who will take
the employee’s input seriously and maintain confidentiality.
b) Properly trained and skilled in building report asking questions while keeping
the employee at ease, and handling negative or emotional employees.

 Many organisations conduct the exit interview a day or before


the employee’s last day of working but others interview
employees a few weeks after they leave.
 Some points need to be keep in the consideration :
1. Are employees more likely to participate before or after they’ve
left?
2. How will employee’s emotions differ before and after leaving ?
3. When are employee’s emotions differ before and after leaving?
4. When are the employees likely to provide the most candid and
useful feedback?
5. Do we want to contribute the interview with other activities
such as handing iver charge.

relevant.
2. The simple way is trust: Win employees confidence and seal
your organisations exit.
3. Helps in finding out the reasons for employee’s increasing
turnover.
4. Helps in increasing the employee retention in the organisation

5. Exit interview if conducted with a purpose can prove to be an
excellent tool for measuring inadequacies in management
policies.
6. It is only a valuable tool if used to make positive changes in
the organisation.
