Issue
Food loss and waste is a growing problem in our modern
society.

•  Dallas Residents and Businesses are not mandated to separate

wasted food for trash.

•  Failure to recycle will cost the City of Dallas one of its

biggest non-tax revenue sources.

• In 2017 alone, almost 41 million tons of food waste were

generated.
30% of what goes into the City of Dallas is compostable
waste.

Based on the Dallas City Hall Annual transparency budget

article. The 2020 budget allocated to the City of Dallas
Sanitation Services is $122.1 million.
Sanitation
Services Cost City of Dallas residents currently pay 30.53 monthly and
provides service to 240k residents, that equals to only 7.3
million in revenue.

If 30% of disposing compostable waste is allocated to the

total budget, then that would mean 36.3 million in cost.

2. Recycle Revolution- Targets businesses.

Partnerships with Grocery Stores

Life
Advantages and Benefits
• Fertilization of soil, providing fresher food to replace what is being wasted.

• Giving back to the community with cheaper alternatives to store-bought food.

• Reduced cost to city and business owners requiring less waste management.

• Possibilities of opening a fresh food store to recycle wasted food products.

South Dallas, an area with an abundance of lower salary families, would be an area that greatly benefits from this type of store.
