Inversion

In Indonesian it means “pembalikan”

It means putting the verbs/


aux verbs before subject, and
the rest of the verbs comes
after. If there is no aux,
do/does/did is added.

Inversion is very common in question but not in
reported speech (indirect question).
e.g. Were they going to school?

(consist of should, had or were)

e.g. If he were happy, he would treat you.

= Were he happy, he would treat you.
