● In Fig, AD = CD and AB = CB.
(i) State the three pairs of equal parts in ΔABD and ΔCBD.
(ii) Is ΔABD ≅ ΔCBD? Why or why not?
(iii) Does BD bisect ∠ABC? Give reasons
SAS Congruence criterion
● If under a correspondence, two sides and the angle included between them of a
triangle are equal to two corresponding sides and the angle included between them of
another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
In fig, AB = AC and AD is the bisector of ∠BAC.
(i) State three pairs of equal parts in triangles ADB and
ADC.
(ii) Is ΔADB ≅ ΔADC? Give reasons.
(iii) Is ∠B = ∠C? Give reasons.
ASA Congruence criterion
● If under a correspondence, two angles and the included side of a triangle are equal to
two corresponding angles and the included side of another triangle, then the triangles
are congruent.
In Fig, can you use ASA congruence
rule and conclude that ΔAOC ≅ ΔBOD?
In the given figure,
∠MNO= ∠PON (=40+50=90)
∠MON= ∠PNO (=50)
NO is the common side
Therefore, using ASA axiom
ΔMNO ≅ ΔPON
In the given figure,
LO=LM=5cm (given)
MN=ON=5.5cm (given)
LN=common side
Therefore, using SSS axiom
ΔLMN ≅ ΔLON
In the given figure,
∠BCO= ∠ADO (given)
∠AOD= ∠BOC (vertically opposite angles)
DO=CO (given)
Therefore, using ASA axiom
ΔBCO ≅ ΔADO
NOT CONGRUENT
In the given figure,
AB= CB=5.2cm (given)
∠EAB= ∠BCD (=50, given)
AE=CD=5cm (given)
Therefore, using SAS axiom
ΔAEB ≅ ΔCDB
Thank you
