 Crime reporting is and has been carried out traditionally
 Going to a police station and reporting the crime
 Not offer real time help to the victim
 Slow-data stored manually, data stored manually
 DCI - online crime reporting service, crowdsourcing tweets
 A gap in almost real time online crime reporting
 Ripoti kenya is an online platform which seeks to allow citizens to submit their crime details
online including their personal details
 Case study for this project will be Juja.
PART 2
PROBLEM DOMAIN AND
CONTEXTUAL RESEARCH
 Users of this system include anyone who witnesses and or is affect by crime, police officers,
security guards in Juja, and county government of Kiambu.
Tasks
 Crime witnesses and those affected-they will be able to report crimes at their convenience and
in an almost real time state.
 Police officers-they will be able to receive information faster, store it in a more organized way,
manipulate it and offer assistance more quickly.
 Senior management and county government of kiambu-be able to make decisions based on the
data analysis and visualization carried out on the data e.G. Patrol organization on most
affected areas, improvement of infrastructure
FUNCTIONALITY
 Form filling and submission of the crime.
 Organizing and sorting data.
 Analysis and visualization of the data to provide insights.

SUCCESSES
 The ability to report crimes quickly and remotely,
 Making it easy for police officers and their staff to obtain, manage and organize their data
 Offering insights on the data to senior management for decision making.

CONSTRAINTS
 Fake reports - solved by verifying details offered by the person using ID numbers
Warning to anyone who attempts to make a false report

OUTPUT
 Ease crime reporting
 Better data handling by the police officers and their support staff
 Decision making based on the insights from the data.
