INTRODUCTION

Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a student’s thoughts,
behavior, feelings, and sense of well-being.

Various scholars, pundits and psychologists found the high frequency of depression, anxiety
and stress symptoms among university students. They regarded it as an alarming situation.
WHY I CHOOSE THE TOPIC :
Students of North South University are not the exception of this
situation. Some of my close friends were very upset and mentally
depressed. I saw some of them crying and very anxious for their
depression, various reason Some of facing depression for academic
stress, unhealthy family problem, love life social peer anxiety etc. I
think, NSU could arrange motivational seminars or could give them
some extra care and also their family friends and peers have to take
care of them too or can find some other process to rehabilitation.
These thinking push me to take this topic for doing research.
HYPOTHESIS
Lack of proper guidance of parents, pressure of study, unable of to cope up with the environment
etc. cause depression to the NSU students become frustrated and addicted to drugs. Some of
students of North South University are facing difficulties and mental stress for their family
pressure, break ups, lack of friend’s support. Some of them got drown into serious frustration.

Depression is a treatable disorder, when a person is depressed then he/she should get enough care
from his/her closed one/family member/teacher/friends.
But in students don’t always find the proper way to get rid of it. Even sometimes lack of
counselling and friends and family support and because of not sharing the reason of their
depression, which made them more depressed and sometimes lead them to addiction or suicide
thoughts.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
In my research I want to investigate the impact of depression of students in NSU. My research
will address the following research questions:
 What are the reasons for young generation are getting depressed?

 Are their depression leading them to other problems on suicide thoughts?

 Are they satisfied with the aid (seminars, counselling etc.) NSU providing them to get
over depression?
