GRAMMAR

Present Perfect
1.Experiences in our lives up to now. (time is not specific)
I’ve gone to punk concerts.    (I was in some punk concerts) 
I have never seen a horror movie.  (I never saw a horror movie)
2. A state or action that started in the past and continues
up to now.
I’ve had this haircut since 2010.   (I continue with the same haircut since 2010)
She’s gone to the gym for 2 years. (She started going to the gym two years ago and she
continues going)
Present Perfect ALREADY /YET
1. ALREADY = BEFORE NOW   (Used for surprising events)
I’ve already finished my homework. (I don't usually do my homework)
I’ve finished my homework already. 

2. YET = an event that didn’t happen, but you expect it to


happen.
I haven’t finished my homework yet. (I didn't finish but I have to finish)
Have you finished your homework yet?
Simple past
1.Finished actions. (time is specific)
I went to punk concerts in 2004.
I didn’t see that movie yesterday.
2. Habits in the past.
I went to punk concerts when I was a teenager.
I saw my favorite movie every day when I was in school.
Present Perfect simple
1.Completion (finished actions)
I’ve studied a lot, so I’m ready for the exam.
She’s put on makeup. Now, she can go to the party.

2. The number of times you’ve done something.


I’ve visited this city twice.
They’ve repeated the course several times.
Present Perfect continuous
1.Duration of an activity.
I’ve been studying all day.
She’s been working for hours.

2. Recently finished action.


I’ve been cooking all morning for this special lunch. Now , it’s
ready.
He’s been reading all night, because his exam is tomorrow
morning.
