ARISE &

BUILD
Making a God-Honoring
Difference in Our Nation
and Generation
NEHEMIAH 2:20

•So I answered them, and said to

them, “The God of heaven Himself
will prosper us; therefore, we His
servants will arise and build...”
•Sinagot ko sila, “Pagtatagumpayin
kami ng Diyos ng kalangitan, at kami
na kanyang mga lingkod ay
magsisimula nang magtayo…”
As God’s people we are called and
empowered by God to participate
and accomplish great things in our
generation which includes sensible
nation-building.
NEHEMIAH
•He leads the successful rebuilding
of the broken walls of Jerusalem
during his time.
•He us a cupbearer to a Persian
ruler – king Artaxerxes.
•Governor of Judah for 12 years.
FOUR PRINCIPLES THAT
WILL ENABLE US TO HAVE
A GOD-HONORING
DIFFERENCE IN OUR
NATION AND
GENERATION.
1. PRAYER AND CONSECRATION
•People who make a God-honoring
difference in their nation and in
their generation draw strength and
guidance from the Lord.
Nehemiah 1: 3-4
They said to me, “Things are not going well
for those who returned to the province of
Judah. They are in great trouble and
disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been
torn down, and the gates have been
destroyed by fire.” When I heard this, I sat
down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned,
fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.
“PRAY FIRST”
Prayer, fasting and
consecration are powerful
biblical spiritual practices
that demonstrate our
dependence on God and
His power.
“While we should adhere to the
principle of the separation of
church and state, I do not propose
to separate man from God.”
– Melvin R. Laird, former US
secretary of State.
Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous thrive,
the people rejoice;
when the wicked rule,
the people groan.
PREAMBLE (1987 Constitution)
We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the
aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and
humane society and establish a Government that
shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote
the common good, conserve and develop our
patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our
posterity the blessings of independence and
democracy under the rule of law and a regime of
truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace,
do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.
2. VISION AND COMPASSION
•People who make God-honoring
difference in their nation and
generation are people of vision
and compassion.
Jonn 3:30
He must become greater;
I must become less.
Nehemiah 1: 3-4
They said to me, “Things are not going well
for those who returned to the province of
Judah. They are in great trouble and
disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been

destroyed by fire.” When I heard this, I sat

fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.
“Philippines is ranked 4th most corrupt
country in Asia Pacific.”
-Transparency International Report 2018
“971 Million is lost to corruption
every day = 357 Billion every year”
- Global Finance Integrity
Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the
people perish: but he that
keepeth the law, happy is he.
“There is something worse than
being physically blind – it is having
eyes but having no vision.”
– Hellen Kelller
“The two great days of your life are
the day you were born and the day
you discover the purpose why you
were born.”
– Mark Twain
People may be looking at
the same things but they
see things differently.
“Problems remain problems
not because they are not
solvable. But because they
are simply left unsolved.”
– Ptr. Alex Garcia

not because they are not
solvable. But because they
are simply left unsolved.”
– Ptr. Alex Garcia
3. PLAN AND ACTION
•People who make God-honoring
difference have a plan. They
organize and they are action-
oriented.
It is easy to analyze, scrutinize
and talk about all the problems
in the world. But what we really
need are people who will not
just discuss a situation but who
will do something about it.
Four types of people in this world:
1.Those who watch things to happen
2.Those who wait for things to happen
3.Those who wonder what happened
4.Those who work to make things
happen
James 2:17
In the same way, faith by
itself, if it is not accompanied
by action, is dead.
4. FOCUS AND DETERMINATION
•People who make a God-honoring
difference know the power to
focus and determination.
Nehemiah 2:19-20
But when Sanballat, Tobiah, and
Geshem the Arab heard of our plan,
they scoffed contemptuously. “What
are you doing? Are you rebelling
against the king?” they asked. I replied,
“The God of heaven will help us
succeed. We, his servants, will start
rebuilding this wall. But you have no
share, legal right, or historic claim in
Jerusalem.”
Acts 5:29
Then Peter and the other apostles
answered and said, We ought to
obey God rather than men.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such
a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off
everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles. And let us run with
perseverance the race marked out for
us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and
perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him
he endured the cross, scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God.
