    MEANING OF APICULTURE

    • the rearing of honey bees to obtain honey and other commercially important
    products such as bees wax, pollen and royal jelly is known as apiculture.
    VARIETIES OF BEES
    the common species of the indian variety of honeybee is apis indica. In one beehive there
    are 40-50 thousand bees including one queen, some drones, and rest all the workers. Annual
    yield of honey is 2-5 kg per colony.

    Other varieties are- apis florea, apis dorsata,apis mellifera.


    USES AND IMPORTANCE
    The products like honey and wax are used in cosmetic , polishing and pharmaceutical
    industries. It has medicinal value and food

    SOME RECENT RESEARCHES HAVE PROVEN THAT HONEBEES VENOM


    COMPRISES A MIXTURE OF PROTEINS THAT HAS CAPABILITY OF DESTROYING
    THE AIDS VIRUS.
