Applications of Ultrasound

1) Echo sounders
Ships use echo SONAR to
measure the depth of water
beneath them.

e.g

Estimate the depth of the water?

• Speed of sound in water

V= 1500m/s
• Echo time t=4seconds
2) Ultra-sound-scanners
Ultrasound scans use sou
nd waves to create a
picture of  baby in
mothers womb.
3) Echo-locations

echolocation is the
production of sound used
for communication.
e.g Bats use echolocation to find
their way, their prey.
4) Obstacle Sensing.
This project is designed
to guide a visually
impaired person to walk
and avoid to the
obstacles.

5) Geology.
Geologists use a variety of
technologies to find the best oil
and gas-bearing rocks including
Ultrasound surveys.
