INTRODUCTION
 A screwjack is a type of jack which is operated
by turning a lead screw.
 It is also known as a screwjack and is
commonly used as car-jacks.
 A jackscrew’s compressive force is obtained
through the tension force applied by its lead
screw.
INTRODUCTION (Cont’d)
 Here an acme thread is most often used , as this
thread is very strong and can resist the large
loads imposed on the jackscrews while not
being weakened by wear over many rotation.
 These types are self-locking , which makes
them safer than other jack technologies like
hydraulic actuators.
 Most jackscrews are lubricated with grease.
INTRODUCTION (Cont’d)
 In most of the garages vehicles are lifted by
using hand operated screwjack. This need high
man power and high skilled operator.
 The motorised screwjack designed in such a
way that, it can be used to lift vehicle very
smoothly without any impact force.
 The operation is made be simple even an
unskilled labour can handle this.
COMPONENTS
 DC MOTOR
 WORM GEAR APARTMENT
 JACK
 SCREW ROD
 BATTERY
 BASE

DIMENSIONS
 Frame work length - 120 cm
 Width - 80 cm
 Thickness of square tube - 16 kg
( 1 inch square tube)
 Tire to tire length - 120 cm
 Width - 97 cm
( 12 inch tire diameter )
DIMENSIONS (Cont’d)
 U Thread Shaft
 Diameter - 1.8 mm
 DC Motor is used to druve Screw Jack
with 1500rpm
 12 V DC Current
 ¼ HP Motor
WORKING PRINCIPLE
 The lead – acid battery is used to drive the dc
motor.
 The dc motor shaft is connected to the spur
gear.
 If power is given to the dc motor,it will run so
that the spur gear also runs to slow down to
the speed of the dc motor.
WORKING PRINCIPLE (Cont’d)
 The screw jack moves the screw upward,so
that the vehicles lift from the ground.
 The vehicle is lifted by using lifting platform
at the top of the screw jack.
 The motor draws power supply from the
battery.
WORKING PRINCIPLE (Cont’d)
 The lifting and uplifting is done by changing
the battery supply to the motor.

ADVANTAGES
 The loaded light vehicles can be easily lifted.
 Checking and cleaning are easy , because the
main parts are scrwed.
 Handling is easy.
 No manual power required.
ADVANTAGES (Cont’d)
 Easy to repair.
 Replacement of parts are easy.
 The moving parts of this system are cooled by
the oil itself used. Thus this project does not
require any cooling arrangements.
DISADVANTAGES
 Cost of the equipment is high when compared
to ordinary hand jack.
 Care must be taken for the handling the
equipment such as proper wiring connection,
battery charging checkup, etc.
SCOPE FOR FUTURE
 It is usefull in auto-garages.
 In emergency conditions like tyre flat out.
 This motorized screw jack is used for lifting
the vehicles.
 Thus it can be useful for the following types of
vehicles in future.
CONCLUSION
 Screw Jacks are the ideal product to push, pull,
lift lower and position loads of anything from
a couple of kilograms to hundred of tonnes.
 It is highly desirable that a jack become
available that can be operated alternatively
from inside the vehicle or from a location of
safety off the road on which the vehicle is
located.
CONCLUSION (CONT’D)
 It is very usefully for the workers to work in
the automobile workshop are in the service
station.
