Ejercicio 1

The feed to a flotation plant assays 0.8% copper. The concentrate
produced assays 25% Cu, and the tailings 0.15% Cu. Calculate the
recovery of copper to the concentrate, ratio of concentration, and the
enrichment ratio.

In order to achieve 90% Cu recovery, how much copper do you need to
have in the tailings?
Ejercicio 2
A copper concentrate is milling 15,000 tonnes per day of a chalcopyrite ore
assaying 1.15% of copper. The concentrate and tailings produced average 32.7%
and 0.18% copper. Calculate mass recovery (MR), enrichment ratio, and copper
recovery for this process. Use the two product formula to carry out estimates.
Ejercicio 3
Coal flotation requires ash
content determination in
order to estimate carbon
content
(i.e., %C=100-%Ash).

Determine (see enclosed
figure) the overall mass
recovery, overall carbon
recovery, size-by-size
recovery, and carbon
distribution in the concentrate
stream. Discuss your results
briefly.
