WORD CLASS/PARTS OF SPEECH

There are eight (8) parts of speech in


the English language. They are:
• Noun
• Pronoun
• Verb
• Adverb
• Adjective
• Preposition
• Conjunction
• Interjection
ADVERBS

An adverb is a word that describes a verb, an


adjective or another adverb.
ADVERBS
An adverb is a word that modifies or describes a
verb.
Example:
They dress beautifully.
pronoun verb(action) adverb

Explanation: How do they dress?


They dress beautifully.
An adverb also describes an adjective.

Example:
She is so beautiful.
Pronoun verb Adverb adjective

Explanation: How beautiful is she?


She is so beautiful.
An adverb may describe another adverb.
Example:
She sings so beautifully.

EXAMPLES OF ADVERBS

Examples of adverbs are: loudly, gently, beautifully,

lazily, so, very, quite, yesterday, today, sadly,

humbly, quietly, soundly, noisily, historically.
