CONSOLIDATION ACTIVITY ALISON HERNANDEZ 5 WAYS THE WORLD IS CHANGING FOR THE BETTER
• Are you one of those who
see the glass half full or half empty? Do you think that the world is moving positively or that, on the contrary, in many ways things are out of control and worse than ever? I guess it depends on how you look at it. 5 WAYS THE WORLD IS CHANGING FOR THE BETTER
• I am not saying that we have to ignore
realities such as the migration crisis, the obvious effects of climate change or the effects of Covid-19, however, yes, perhaps derived from all of these there are some points that 10 years ago we would not have dreamed of and that today are a global trend. Here are 5 ways we believe the world is getting better: 1. COMPANIES HAVE TO RETHINK THEIR MODELS IF THEY WANT TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN TALENT • According to a Gallup poll, 70% of American workers are unhappy at their jobs. 60% of the English also… And so we could continue with many other countries. True, it is better to have a job than not to have it, but among those who have it, it seems that the lack of purpose and the dissatisfaction that this causes becomes more and more evident. On the other hand, it has been shown that an inspired employee is three times more efficient than one who is not. Companies are beginning to pay attention to this data and in more and more cases, the focus is on improving employee satisfaction beyond paying their monthly salary. 2. ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS NOT JUST ENTREPRENEURSHIP, IT IS SOCIAL
Partly related to the above, new initiatives
and companies are not only looking for an economic benefit. Sustainability is needed, but enterprises today in many cases, seek to generate some kind of social impact. Social entrepreneurship gains followers and more are the people who decide to undertake based on the identification of a problem. It is obvious that having a sustainable project that also generates some type of social or environmental impact is doubly satisfactory and not only benefits you. 3. EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS ARE REVIEWING THEIR EFFICIENCY
Some talk about how we have developed models
that perpetuate and replicate followers of the system, which turns people into totally ‘ordinary ’human beings. Many are the voices that are raised questioning the effectiveness of the exams, wearing a uniform, homework ... Many are the people who are rethinking education beyond the established paradigms. They bet on exploring beyond what is known to create seres extraordinary ’beings, instead of‘ ordinary ’beings. There are many concepts that are used: empathy, creativity, collaboration, education in values, empowerment… Some examples are found in changemakers schools or learning based on the Finnish experience. 4. RESPONSIBLE CONSUMERS On the one hand, we can talk about how more and more people question the consumerist model. Fewer people use cars and more people sign up to pedal, more people exchange clothes, buy second-hand products, share apartments, cars, offices… We are more aware of how consumerism is not the answer, and more are those who decide to act in consecuense. This together with the fact that when we consume we do it in a more conscious way, taking into account where things come from, what ingredients are used and under what conditions they are produced, makes us think that out there and even if it is not at the speed we would like, we continue to see progress. 5. COLLABORATE NOT COMPETE Collaborate instead of compete, share instead of multiply ... The paradigm of the self-made man in competition with the one next door is being questioned. And what is the point in a planet populated by millions and millions of people, we all go our way? Joining forces is certainly better than replicating the wheel and together we are much more powerful than each on our own. The mindset is changing and it's contagious, or at least here we want to believe it. Do you think so too? 5 WAYS THE WORLD IS CHANGING FOR THE BETTER
