safe to eat.
• Factors like temperature, color, texture, flavor and taste fall under the
Mechanical process
Heating process
• Manual operation
• Discontinuous operation because of manual working
less speed of operation
• Startup time is more
• Less production rate
• Unsafe working due to more manual efforts.
• High maintenance
• Stainless steel does not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as
ordinary steel does.
• Stainless steel is used in food industry.

Property Value
Therefore,
A= 0.25 * tan 10 * [0.7] 2 = 0.0216 m2 …………………. (2)
From equation (1) we have,
Q = A * V * 3600 * ϕ
Here ϕ = ϕ1 * ϕ2
…………………….. [Ref 8]
P2 = Power of lift (or fall) given by,
…………………….. [Ref 8]
P3 = Sum of additional power for trippers, skirtboard friction, ploughs.
…………………….. [Ref 8]
From [Ref] we have
CB = width factor = 90 kg/m.
CL = length factor = 625 m-1.
•P
discharge = 1.5 * B * V = 1.5 * 0.7 * 0.3 = 0.315 KW ………………….. (10) [Ref 8]
Therefore,
From (6), (7), (8), (9) & (10) we have,
P3 = 0.45 + 0.063 + 0.0336 + 0.315 = 0.8616 KW ………………….. (11)
Hence, from (4), (5) & (11)
PT = 0.0397 + 0.0109 + 0.8616 = 0.9122 KW
Now
Required motor power (Pm) = = = 1.1402 KW
Where, = efficiency of drive = 0.8
Therefore,
Motor Power (Pm) = 1.5 HP
CALCULATION
Given:-
Revolutions per minute (N) – 1500 rpm

we have,
•Now

Therefore, e = 5 = 1.37
………….. (1)
From (1) we conclude that,
Obtained value is matching with the reference value hence the selected

Here ϕ = ϕ1 * ϕ2
ϕ1 = 1 & ϕ2 = 1 ……………… [Ref 8]
We know,
A = 0.25 * tan β * [B] 2 ………….. (4) [Ref 8]
Where,
•
β = Surcharge angle = 10˚
Therefore, from (3) & (4)
8.9605 * 10-3 = 0.25 * tan 10 * [B] 2
B = 500 mm …………………. (5)
Power requirement –

kf = service factor = 1.17
H = conveyor elevation = 0.2127 m.
V = maximum belt speed = 18 m/min.
•Now,
P1 =
P2 =
For P3 we have,
•Where, = efficiency of drive = 0.8
Therefore,
Motor Power (Pm) = 1 HP
Hence 1 HP geared motor is used for conveying system.
• Priming
Priming is the most important operation of centrifugal pump because
most of the centrifugal pumps are not self-priming. Priming is defined as
a process of filling the pump casing with the liquid before starting of
pump or the pump will not be able to function.
RING BLOWER
• Ring blowers are manufactured for both vacuum and pressure
service.
• All ring blowers consist of an impeller which spins within a housing.
• Housing of ring blower consist of both an intake channel and an
outboard channel due to which it also has the name side channel
blowers.
• At an intake port air is drawn when impeller moves past the intake
port.
• This process is known as regenerative process which allows the side
channel blower to function as both vacuum blower and pressure
blower.
