a) Stationary boiler these boilers are used for power generation in thermal power plants or process steam in plants. b) Portable boiler these are small units of mobile boilers and are used for tempory uses at the sites.
5. According to the position of furnace,
a) internally fired the furnace is located inside the shell, e.g., Cochran, Lancashire boiler, etc. b) external fired the furnace is located outside the boiler shell, e.g., babcock and wilcox, stirling boiler, etc.
6. According to the pressure of steam generated,
a) Low pressure boiler a boiler which produce steam under a pressure of 15-20 bar is called a low pressure boiler. This steam is used for process heating. b) Medium – pressure boiler it has a working pressure of steam from 20 bar to 80 bar and is used for power generation or combined use of power generation and process heating. c) High pressure boiler it produce steam at a pressure of more than 80 bar.
