MAJOR SCALES

MUSIC
• The word “scale” comes from
the Latin term scala meaning
“ladder”.

• A scale is composed of eight notes


arranged in an ascending and descending
order.
• A musical scale is an organized group of
pitches that form a particular type of
sound.
• The most common
scale is called
diatonic scale
characterized by
a pattern of fixed
intervals of whole
steps and half steps.
• On the piano keyboard, a whole step is
the distance from a key to another with
one key in between.

• A half step is the


distance from one
key to the next key
without skipping any
key.
• The group of sharps and flats written at
the beginning of the staff is called
key signature.

• It tells about the


key names and the
location of do pitch
of the song.
• This is big help for singers or
performers to reach for the right
pitch that best suit their singing
voice.
