 SIGNIFICANCE IN ISLAM
 Islam is the only religion that prophesies that the
Sun will rise from the West, instead of from rising
from the East in the the End Times, before Day of
Judgement.
 Both the Quran and the Hadith affirm that this
phenomenon will take place.
 The occurrence of this phenomenon is considered in
Islam as one of the major signs that indicate the Day
of Judgement is close.
 The sun is one of the signs of Allah, for which He
has created a course in which it runs, and a system
from which it does not change.
 It rises in the east every day, but when Allah gives
permission for the world to end and the Hour to
begin, He will command it to rise from the west.
 At that time all people will believe and will be
certain of the resurrection, but their faith will not
avail them anything at that moment, except for those
who believed before. 
 SIGNIFICANCE IN
QURAN
 SURAH AL-ANAAM (6:158) :
 “The day that some of the Signs of your Lord do
come, no good will it do to a person to believe then, if
he believed not before, nor earned good (by
performing deeds of righteousness) through his Faith”

 SURAH YASEEN (36:38) :

 “And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term
(appointed). That is the Decree of the All‑Mighty, the
All‑Knowing”

 SURAH AL-ZUMAR (39:5) :

 “Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed
term”

SURAH AL-ANBIYA (21:33) :

 “Each in an orbit floating”
SIGNIFICANCE IN HADITH
NARRATION : ABU HURAYRAH – (AL- BUKHAARI & MUSLIM)
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “The Hour will not begin until the
sun rises from its place of setting. When it rises from its place of setting,
all people will believe, but on that day ‘no good will it do to a person to
believe then, if he believed not before.”

NARRATION : ABU DHARR – (AL- BUKHAARI)

The Prophet (PBUH) said to Abu Dharr, when the sun set: “Do you
know where it goes?” He said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He
said: “It goes and prostrates beneath the Throne, and it asks for
permission, and permission is given to it. But soon it will prostrate and it
will not be accepted from it, and it will ask for permission and permission
will not be given to it, and it will be said to it: ‘Go back from where you
came.’ So it will rise from its place of setting.’
NARRATION : AL-TAHHAAWI – (AL- AQEEDAH)
We believe in the portents of the Hour, the emergence of the Dajjaal, the
descent of ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) from heaven, and we
believe that the sun will rise from the west.
NARRATION : ABU DHARR – (SAHEEH AL- BUKHAARI)
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Similarly, the sun and
moon travel in their orbits along the courses decreed for them until an appointed time,
until Allah will give permission for this universe to be destroyed. Then the sun will
emerge from its place of setting.

NARRATION : HUDHAYFAH IBN USAYD AL GHIFAREE – (SAHEEH

MUSLIM)
“The Prophet (PBUH) found us while we were talking with each other, he said,”
What are you talking about?” we said ,” About the Hour. ” He said, “It will come only
when you see before it ten signs,” He mentioned: The smoke, the false messiah, the
beast, the sun rising from where it sets, the descent of ‘Isa Ibn Maryam, Gog and
Magog, and three engulfments by the earth: A sinking in the East, a sinking in the
West, a sinking in the Arabian Peninsula. And the last of all this is a fire that will
come out from Yemen, pushing people back to their place of gatherng.”
This hadeeth clearly indicates that the sun travels by itself.
DOOR OF TAWBA (REPENTANCE)
 Once the sun has risen from the West, the door of repentance for sins
committed will be closed by Allah and will remain closed until the Day of
Judgement.
 NARRATION : ABU-MUSA AL-ASHARI – (SAHEEH MUSLIM)
 The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Verily Allah extends his hand at
night so that the sinners of the day may repent and verily extends his
hand during the day so that the sinners of the night may repent, (He will
keep on doing this) as long as the sun does not rise from the West."
 NARRATION : SAFWAN BIN ASSAL – (SAHEEH MUSLIM)
 The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Allah has built a door of repentance where
the sun sets, its breadth requires 70 years journey for foot passenger or
40-70 years for a rider. It will not be closed as long as the Sun does not
rise from the West."
NARRATION : IBN HAJAR AL-ASQALANI – (FATH AL-BARI)
 He has reported many Hadiths which prove that the door of repentance
will remain closed till the Day of Judgement and thereafter writes, ''These
narrations give strength to one another, agreeing completely in that once
the sun rises from the West, the door of repentance will be closed and will
not be opened thereafter.''
 ACCEPTING ISLAM AFTER THE SUN
RISES
NARRATION : ABDULLAH BIN ABU-OWFA – (IBN KATHIR)
 The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Verily a night equivalent to three of your
nights will come upon people. When it comes, those who engage themselves in
worship during the night will recognize it. A person will stand in prayer, read a
section of the Quran and then go to sleep. Thereafter, he will wake up, stand in prayer
and read a section of the Quran, then go to sleep. While this condition remains, the
people will begin to shout, scream and call one another. They will say, "What is this?"
With fear, they will run to the mosque. To their surprise, they will see that the sun has
risen from the West. When it reaches the middle of the sky, it will return and set in the
West." He said, "That is when becoming a believer (in Islam after witnessing this
Sign) will no longer be of benefit (because after the sun rises from the West, Allah
will no longer accept declarations of faith )."
NARRATION : ABU HURAIRA– (SAHEEH AL-BUKHARI)
Narrated by Abu Huraira, "Allah's Messenger said, 'The Hour (of Resurrection) will
not come until the sun rises from the West. When the people witness this, everyone
who will be living on the face of the Earth will develop faith ( believe in Allah), but
that is when believing will no longer be of benefit"
Abu Huraira said: "Three things that once they occur, the soul will not benefit from
believing (in God) if it did not believe before: the Dajjal (Anti-Christ), Daabba
(Beast), and Sun rise from the West."
 OCCURRENCE OF THE SIGNS
 There are Two main possibilities:
1. Around the time of the Dajjal.
2. After the descent of Jesus (peace be upon him) from Heaven, but
before the last three Major Signs [Pleasant Wind (Rapture),
Destruction of Ka'ba, and the Fire].

What is clear based on several Hadiths is that the Daabba (which will
mark the forehead of every human being as either a believer or as a non-
believer) will come immediately after or immediately before the Sun
rising from the West.
 THE HOUR IS NEAR
 Most people know something about the Day of
Judgment. Almost everyone knows more or less about the
horrors of that Hour. In spite of this, most people share a
common attitude toward this viral matter; they do not
want to think or speak about it. They make a determined
effort to keep the fear of the Hour out of their minds.
 Some people do not even believe that the Hour will
come.
• EG:
 SURAH AL-KAHF (36): The rich grape-vines owner.
(He said,) “I do not think the Hour will ever come. But if
I should be sent back to my Lord, I will definitely get
something better in return.”

 SURAH AL-JATHIYYA (32):

(The unbelievers will be told,) ‘When you were told,
"Allah’s promise is true and so is the Hour, of which there
is no doubt," you said, "We have no idea what the Hour
is. We have only been conjecturing. We are by no means
certain."
 SURAH AL-FURQAN (11):
 But instead, they deny the Hour; and We have prepared a Searing Blaze
for those who deny the Hour.

 SURAH AL-HAJJ (7):

 And the Hour is coming without any doubt and Allah will raise up all
those in the graves.

 SURAH AL-HIJR (85):

 We did not create the heavens and Earth and everything between them,
except with truth. The Hour is certainly coming.
 HOW WILL THIS GREAT SIGN COME TO
PASS?
Many Islamic scholars have commented on how the Sun
would rise in the west.

 Bediuzzaman Said Nursi tells how this great sign

predicted by our Prophet would happen:

 The sun rising in the west will be a self-evident sign of

the end of the world, and because it is self-evident, it will
be a heavenly event which closes the door of repentance.

 This sign will be witnessed by everyone and it will

happen in such an extraordinary way that no one will
need any proof or explanation. This celestial event will
have an effect on every human beings and every other
creature in the world both animate and inanimate; and
they will all witness the coming of The Last Day.

 This sign will occur when the Earth collides with a star
or another heavenly body. After this collision that will
occur according to Allah's will, the world’s orbit will
change, it will start rotate from east to west. As a result,
the Sun will not rise in the east but in the west.
 SURAH AN-NAZIAT (6-7) :
 On the Day the first blast shudders, and the second blast follows it.
 In this verse, two great blasts are mentioned.

1. The Great Collusion of the Earth with another star or heavenly body.
 This will stop the orbit of the Earth that had continued in its course
perfectly for billions of years. This will totally upset the world’s order.
Night will not turn into day; one side of the Earth will remain in
perpetual darkness while the other will be always in daylight. People
will be amazed at this change and overwhelmed by great fear, horror and
panic. The Earth’s crust will shift; there will be earthquakes everywhere.
There will be violent volcanic eruptions and magma sill stream down.

2. The Qur’an says that a second blast will come after the first. With this
collision the Earth will reverse its orbit. At that moment, the Earth,
which for billions of years had moved perfectly from west to east
without stopping for a moment, will begin to turn from east to west.

 These collisions will upset the ecological system that ensured the order
of the world and the continuation of life. The sense of horror will
increase in people’s hearts and minds and the process of the destruction
of the world and all creatures in it will begin.
SURAH AN-NAZIAT (8-9) :
• Hearts that Day will be pounding and eyes will be cast down.

SURAH AL-FURQAN (11) :

• But instead, they deny the Hour; and We have prepared a Searing Blaze
for those who deny the Hour.
 SCIENTIFIC INVENTION
 Did anyone of us imagine how the sun is going to rise from the west as
said by our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) 1400 years ago..
 But now scientists found how it happens. Scientists were making
researches on Mars for long time.
 Mars which rotates in the same direction of the Earth has now started to
rotate in the opposite direction. So now the sun rises from west in Mars.
 This is named as Retrograde Motion and this happens to all planets
amazingly Earth is the next.
 They have found that the rotation of the Earth’s Axis has slowed down
and in few years we will be able to see the Sun rising from the West.
 CONCLUSION
 One of the signs of the onset of the Hour is that the sun will rise from
the west instead of rising from the east.
 When that happens, it will indicate that the onset of the Hour is very
close, and at that time belief will not benefit the Kaafir at all.  
 Let’s not waste time on movies, music, parties, etc and spend more time
to read and learn Quran and Hadiths, Pray five times and teach our kids
on Islam. These acts will only benefit us in our Grave.
 Islam is a beautiful religion and Allah has made it so easy for us to
follow through our beloved Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
