SYNTHESIS OF TiO2
•   TTIP + 100 ml deionised water

Add 3.6 ml of Manganese acetate

and stirred

Ammonia solution is added drop

by drop to maintain pH

Stirred for two hours

Centrifuge (3000rpm for 5 mins)

  Calcination ( 600°C for 2 hours).
CHARACTERISATION TECHNIQUES

• X – ray diffractometer -- structural

analysis of nanomaterial.
• UV – Visible --understanding electronic
structure of the optical bandgap of the material
• FTIR – presence of vibrational bands and the
functional groups in the prepared
nanomaterial.
• Antimicrobial activity – antifungal activity is
done.

TiO2 doped 7%Mn at pH 8

TiO2 doped 7%Mn at pH 10

• The XRD patterns of these three samples were agrees well with standard
JCPDS card (card no.89 - 4921).
• The observed peaks indicates the tetragonal crystal structure. The position
and relative peaks of all the samples reveals the anatase phase.
• The above samples are highly crystalline and it indeed the proper
nanostructure.

CONCLUSION
• XRD studies reveal better crystallinity of the prepared nanoparticles. The
synthesized TiO2 have tetragonal structure in anatase phase. The lattice
parameters are found to be a = 3.78Å, c = 9.47Å
• The UV-Vis spectroscopy shows the absorbance at 313.34nm,
315.25nm, 318.47nm for pH6, pH 8 ,pH 10 respectively. The red shift in
wavelength might be due to doping.
• The functional groups are analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy
and the absorption peaks in the region 400 – 800 cm-1 confirms the
formation of TiO2 nanoparticle. The slight shift in the peaks indicates the
doping of the nanomaterials.
• The Antimicrobial activity shows no effect on antibacterial
activity with variation in pH while in the antifungal activity, with increase
in pH leads to the increase in activity of nano material doped with 7%
Mn.
• From all the above discussions, it is evident that the Mn ions
successfully incorporated inside the TiO2 lattices by obeying Vegard’s
law. This Mn doped TiO2 samples are propitious for both the industrial
and biological applications.
