STREET DANCING
Street dances, also known
as festival dances, vary
from place to place. The
style used depends on the
birth or origin of the
dance.
ATI-ATIHAN
The Ati-atihan is celebrated in Kalibo,
Aklan in honor of Sto. Niño in the month
of January. It means “to be like atis”.
The Atis are the earliest immigrants of
Panay Island where Aklan is located.It
consists of tribal dances where dancers
are in black body paint with colorful
indigenous costumes.

SINULOG
Sinulog is another festival in honor of
Sto. Niño celebrated in Cebu on the
third weekend of January. It is known
for its chant “ Pit Señor.” The procession
is followed by street dancing and fluvial
parade.

The Masskara is a festival dance from
Bacolod that represents the love for fun
and cheerfulness of the people. It is
celebrated every third weekend of
October.

OBANDO FERTILITY
RITES
The Obando Fertility Rites are famous
festival in Bulacan. It is a three-day
celebration every month of May. It is a
fertility dance wherein couples are
asking for a child. They participate in the
prayer-dancing because they believe
that doing
such will grant their wishes.

PAHIYAS FESTIVAL
The Pahiyas is known for the kiping
(colored ricepaste wafers). It is one of the
biggest and famous harvest festivals in
the province of Quezon. This is celebrated
anually on the 15th of May. It is a festival
in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the
patron saint of
farmers.
