The Alpha Beta Store E

The Greek Alphabet Made Easy

                                by Robert E. Burden
Once upon a time,
in a place far, far way,
a place called Camelot,
was a Supermarket called

Alpha Beta
There shopped a little old lady from Pasadena.  She was called

Gamma Delta Epsilon

(Gamma is her granddaughter's way of saying Grandma.)
Gamma went to find a ripe tomato and made the mistake of
leaving her li'l granddaughter parked in the shopping cart by
the heat lamp.  Well, you'll never in a million years, guess
what happened.  All right, maybe you did guess.  Her li'l
granddaughter

Zeta Eta Theta
(That's Zeta's way of telling on herself about having eaten the potato.)

When Gamma saw Zeta with baked potato all over her
face, she said "You owe me one, kiddo, 'cause I'm gonna
have to pay for that at the check out counter."  She knew
that her grandma was shopping with her grandpa's money,
so she said, "I don't owe it t' you,

Iota Kappa
(I owe t' Kappa, AKA Grandpa)
"Just let me listen to my

Lambda Mu."
(lambda music).

And now a brief word from our sponsor.

The first half of this presentation is brought to you by the first

half of the Greek Alphabet, a dozen letters in all.

Touch your pinky and say                          Alpha Beta.

Touch your ring finger and say          Gamma Delta Epsilon.

Touch your middle finger and say            Zeta Eta Theta.

Touch your index finger and say                 Iota Kappa.

Touch your thumb and say                         Lambda Mu
We're half way through!

Here's a brief recap to bring you up to speed.

It was at the Alpha Beta where Gamma Delta Epsilon's little

Zeta Eta Theta and said Iota Kappa and listened to her
Lambda Mu.

After the two calmed down a bit, they happened by a table with
3 rows of microwaveable pie samples labeled A, B, and C.
When the attendant asked which they would like to try, Zeta
answered

Nu Ksi
(That's l'il Zeta's way of saying, put brand C in the microwave and
nuke it.)

The row of pies Zeta chose turned out to be the

Omicron Pi Rho
(That's Zeta's way of saying which row the Omicron brand of
pies were on.)
Zeta was just as sloppy with her pie as she was with the potato,
so Gamma started looking for one of the brands of paper towels
supplied by Sigma Supplies, Inc. She told Zeta she liked those
brands best, so Zeta said, "

Sigma Tau Upsilon "

(Sigma is the name of a supplier of paper towels.  Zeta was
trying to say Oops and Gamma Epsilon at the same time and it
came out upsilon.)
As they strolled down the aisle, a kite caught Zeta's eye, so she
asked Gamma, "Can we go

Phi Chi ?"

(fly a kite)

Gamma gave it some thought, as it reminded her of the ending
of the movie "Mary Poppins".  Finally, she said "Why not?" as
she handed a kite to Zeta.  Then Gamma sighed while looking
at her her Omega watch to which Zeta translated as, "

Psi Omega
(sigh, Omega)

And now, another word from our sponsor.  The second quarter

Touch your middle finger and say    Sigma Tau Upsilon
