COUNSELING
 The Collins Dictionary of Sociology
defines counseling as “the process of
guiding a person during a stage of life
when reassessments or decisions have
to be made about himself or herself
and his of her life course.”
COUNSELING
 Counseling is a professional relationship that
empowers diverse individuals, families, and
groups to accomplish mental health, wellness,
education, and career goals. The primary goal of
counseling is to help people utilize their prevailing
social skills and problem solving skills more
functionally, or to cultivate new surviving and
coping skills.
COUNSELORS
 Professionally trained and certified to perform
counseling.
 Their job is to provide advice or guidance in
decision-making in emotionally significant
situations by helping clients explore and
understand their worlds and discover better ways
and well-informed choices in resolving an
emotional or interpersonal problems

 SCOPE OF
COUNSELING
The scope of counseling covers personal,
social, cognitive, behavioral, psychological,
emotional, spiritual, occupational and even
health aspect of an individual. However, it
does not deal with the clinical cases such as
mental illness.
 SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS
