Gerund

A gerund is formed by adding (ing) to a verb which changes it into a noun.


Gerund

Verbs such as appreciate, consider, enjoy, give up, keep, put off, sug
gest
Avoid, postpone, prevent, resist, mind, finish, stop, miss
Are normally followed by a gerund:

Make sentences
Infinitive

Verbs such as ask, decide, expect, intend, need, refuse, seem, tend
Forget, try, want, fail, remember
Are normally followed by an infinitive:

Verbs such as begin, bother, continue, hate, prefer, start


Love, like, attempt.
Are followed by either a gerund or an infinitive:
