Email Tips to Live By
#1: Use your school email. (s #ID @live.killeenisd.org)

#2: Select a professional font. (Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, Georgia)

#3: Include a clear, direct subject line.


* Include your name, class period, and topic

#4 Begin with a professional and polite introduction using the receiver's title.
* Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms./Dr. ____
* Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Mr./Mrs./Ms./Dr. ____

#5 Use correct spelling for EVERYTHING. (Let Spellcheck be your friend!)


* Be careful when spelling people’s names.
Email Tips to Live By
#6 Avoid ALL CAPS and exclamation marks. (Nobody likes to be yelled at!)

#7 Be careful with your tone.


* Think about your word choices.
* Avoid sarcasm. (It does not translate well.)

#8 Make sure your message is clear and understandable.


* Be specific, but not too wordy!

#9 Close out your email on a polite and thankful note.
