 Overview of desktop computers,
laptops and PDAs with GPS tracking
A desktop computer is a personal
computer designed to be used
frequently at a single location on or
near a table or desk due to its size and
capacity requirements. The most
common configuration contains a
power supply, motherboard (printed
circuit board with a microprocessor as
the central processing unit (CPU),
memory, bus and other electronic
components, disk storage (usually is
one or more hard drives, solid state
drives, optical drives and in the first
models was floppy drives), keyboards
and mice for input, and computer
monitors, speakers and usually printers
This case can be oriented horizontally
or vertically and placed below, beside,
or on the table.
Laptop or so-called notebook,
laptop is a more efficient and
nearly as powerful as a desktop
laptop. The laptop runs out of AC
power or battery, such as NiMH,
NiCad or Li-ion packs, for a few
hours.
As you can see in the picture,
the Dell Latitude D610 laptop
has everything needed for
normal operation. It has an LCD
screen, keyboard and touchpad.
Although the laptop may have
multiple external devices and
cables connected to it, there is
no need for an external
connection to use the standard.
One of the most useful and exciting features of
the newer PDA's, is their ability to serve as
real time maps. A PDA GPS built in system
serves two purposes – it can help you keep
track of your busy schedule as every PDA
does, and, it can help you find your way to just
about anywhere. You will no more get lost
trying to find your way to a new client, to see
your son's soccer game, or in a new city.
Some of the PDAs on the market don't have a
GPS Built In system, so they require a special
receiver that has to be bought separately and
attached to the PDA.
The PDA's we'll discuss are PDA GPS Built In
devices. You get them with the GPS system
already integrated into the machine itself – the
receiver, the maps, the antenna. Nothing
needs to be added.
