(AT DIFFERENT AGE)
FROM BIRTH TO 4 WEEKS

• Use human face, smile and talk.


• Hold, touch, rock, pat and change
positions.
• Play soft music or have infant
listen to ticking clock.
• Talk to the baby, call- by name.
From 1 to 3 months:

• Encourage socialization, smiling,


laughing, etc.
• Place on mat or floor.
• Continue to introduce new sounds.
From 3 to 4 months:
• Encourage mirror for play.
• Provide soft, squeeze toys in
different colour of varying texture.
• Allow infant to splash in bath.
• Infant still enjoys holding and
playing with rattles.
From 4-7 months:
• Enjoy social games, hide and seek with
adults, toys, large blocks, etc.
• Enjoys playing in bouncy chairs, walkers,
etc.
• Likes wooden or metal spoon and things
to bang with.
• Likes to drop things.
• Child can use mono syllabic words like
‘ma, pa, da’.
From 7 – 10 months:

• Encourage use of motion toys like


rocking toys.
• Imitate animal sounds.
• Offer new objects like blocks.
• Take the baby outdoors.
From 12-18 months:
• Allow unrestricted motor activity.
• Offer push or pull toys.
• Allow child to select favorite toys.
• Provide musical toys and phone
toys.
• Provide colour books with large
pictures.
From 2-3 years:
• To provide simple games with other
children.
• Tell story and dress up play.
• Play house.
• Give them to read simple books.
• Help and assist in developing
memory skills and language.
From 3-5years:
• Teach the child to play and
interact with other children and
show creativity.
• Initiate to play dramatic play,
housekeeping toys and
transportation toys like tricycle,
toy truck, etc.
