modern Indian states of Haryana and Punjab.Classifications of
panchabhutas in nature –air, earth, fire, water & sky –try to
understand the phenomenon of nature & consider humans
are part of and not master ofnature.
• Mauryan age : The Maurya Empire, also known as the
Mauryan Empire, was a geographically extensive Iron Age
historical power in ancient India, ruled by the Maurya dynasty
from 322–185 BCE.
• Classical age : Religion, state & royalty continued to be the
three key players managing the natural resources & moulding
attitudes to design with nature all through the mediaeval
period.

Development of Golden Temple Corridor, Amritsar Landscape
Architect: Ravindra Bhan
Golden Temple in the city of Amritsar is a living symbol of spiritual and
historical traditions of the Sikhs. The city was almost abutting with the walls
of the Golden Temple complex with narrow main roads hardly three meter
wide and much narrower internal lanes. Started in the year 1993, the
development work was seen as an opportunity for upgrading the deficient
services such as assisting sewer system, telephone and electrical services and
introduction of new storm water drainage system.
