Single-celled microorganisms that can live almost
everywhere.
Lives in air, soil, food and the human body.
Damage healthy cells
WHAT IS VIRUSES?

Damages and kills the cells
WHAT IS A FUNGI?
Small organisms that grow either as parasites in
living organisms or in the remains of dead
organisms.
Grow best in dark, warm, and moist area.
HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS
HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system. If
untreated, a person’s immune system will
eventually be completely destroyed.
As HIV destroys more CD4 cells and makes more
copies of itself, it gradually breaks down a
person’s immune system. This means someone
living with HIV, who is not receiving treatment,
will find it harder and harder to fight off infections
and diseases.
If HIV is left untreated, it may take up to 10 or 15
years for the immune system to be so severely
damaged it can no longer defend itself at all.
However, the speed HIV progresses will vary
depending on age, health and background.
SYMPTOMS OF HIV
Swollen lymph nodes
Unexplained weight loss lasts for at least 1 month.
Persistent fever
Diarrhea for several weeks
Vaginal infections
Very weak
Myalgia (Muscle Pain)
Mouth and esophageal sores
Pharyngitis
ACQUIRED IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROME
