The 'social' part: refers to interacting with other
people by sharing information with them and
receiving information from them.

The 'media' part: refers to an instrument of


communication, like the internet.

So, combined definition is


Social media is a web-based communication
tool that enable us to interact with different
people by both sharing and consuming
information.

popular nowadays. But it is a two-way sword. If you
misuse social media, you can also become a target of
people who want to mock you aka TROLLERS. (Memes)

• Social media has made the world small, it has increased


the distance between people.

• People have 5000 friends on Facebook but they barely


have 5 friends in real life upon whom they can count on.
